K2 Systems BasicRail Mounting Kit 4 Modules Trapezoidal Sheet Portrait is the complete substructure for fastening 4 PV modules on a trapezoidal sheet metal roof in portrait (vertical) orientation. The coordinated mounting kit from K2 Systems combines four 2.40 m long mounting rails with clamps, connectors and fastening clips and enables a weatherproof roof penetration using thread-forming screws with sealing washer.

The system in detail

The mounting rails

The kit contains four K2 BasicRail 22 rails, each 2.40 m long, made of aluminium EN AW 6063 T66 (mill finish). The profile weighs around 643 g/m and, with a cross-section of 2.38 cm² and section moduli of Wy = 1.08 cm³ and Wz = 2.46 cm³, provides a solid basis for vertical module installation. Two BasicConnector sets are included for extension, allowing the rails to be joined securely.

The module clamps

Four universal end clamps K2 Clamp EC 25-40 in black anodised aluminium are used to fasten the edges of the four modules. Between the modules, six middle clamps K2 Clamp MC 25-40 ensure a secure hold. Both clamp types accommodate frame heights from 25 to 40 mm, are preset to 30 mm and are installed with a tightening torque of 16 Nm.

The roof fastening

The connection to the trapezoidal sheet is made by 15 K2 BasicClips made of glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide (PA6.6-GF 35) with EPDM seal, fastened with 30 thread-forming screws 6 × 38 with sealing washer. Two BasicLock 22 sets fix the rails onto the clips. This K2 BasicRail mounting kit thus forms the complete mechanical connection between photovoltaic module and roof.
