The Deye SUN‑XL02‑B is a modern photovoltaic optimizer designed to maximize the performance of each individual solar module unit, thereby increasing the overall energy yield. By fine-tuning power management at the module level, losses due to shading, system deviations, or aging can be significantly reduced.
With the use of the SUN‑XL02‑B, operators benefit from real-time monitoring, easy communication via existing PV lines (PLC), and a rapid shutdown of the system to more efficiently meet safety requirements (in combination with optimizer concentrators).
Thanks to its robust construction and IP68 protection rating, the optimizer is well-suited for demanding outdoor conditions – heat, cold, moisture, or dirt pose no obstacles.
The compact size and light weight make it ideal for installation directly next to or beneath the module. At the same time, its efficiency is nearly at the technical limit with peak values.
The SUN‑XL02‑B can be flexibly integrated into existing PV systems or used from the start in new projects – especially where module mismatch, partial shading, or varying orientations play a role.
Below you will find all the technical details, application notes, and the usual scope of delivery.
Differences between SUN-XL02-B and SUN-XL02-A
Compared to the SUN-XL02-A model, the SUN-XL02-B offers enhanced remote monitoring features. This allows real-time access to the data of each individual photovoltaic module and enables quick intervention in case of deviations or disturbances. Additionally, the SUN-XL02-B is compatible with the optional Concentrator SUN-XL20-B, which provides a rapid shutdown function. This immediately reduces the DC voltage, thereby improving the safety of the entire system.
However, without the concentrator, the SUN-XL02-B cannot be activated. The optimizer uses modern technologies such as MPPT tracking at the module level to maximize energy production while ensuring stable and reliable communication. With its high conversion efficiencies and compact dimensions, the SUN-XL02-B is particularly suitable for applications requiring precise control and efficient performance optimization on a module basis.

Key Benefits & Application Advantages
Performance Boost through Module MPPT:
Each module is individually optimized – the result: an increase in energy production by **5% to 25%**, especially in cases of partial shading, uneven aging, or contamination.
Real-Time Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis:
The condition of each individual module is visible at all times. Errors, performance drops, or interruptions are detected early – precise troubleshooting is possible.
Stable Communication via PV Lines:
Thanks to PLC communication, no additional data line is needed – data exchange occurs over the existing PV cable network.
Rapid Shutdown:
Using optimizer concentrators, the DC voltage range of the PV system can be quickly reduced to a safe level. This optimizes safety aspects during maintenance or emergencies.
Robustness & Durability:
The IP68 protection rating ensures complete sealing against dust and temporary submersion. The temperature range from ‑40 °C to +85 °C covers extreme operating conditions.
Flexible System Integration:
The SUN‑XL02‑B can be used in both new PV installations and existing systems. It offers significant advantages, especially in situations with module mismatch, partial shading, or uneven orientation.
Application & Integration
In typical applications, the optimizer is connected directly to the solar module (input) and then routed in series or parallel to the string line (output). The modules can then be connected via the optimizer concentrator or directly to the inverter, provided it has compatible interfaces for rapid shutdown.
During installation, it is important to keep the DC cable paths as short as possible and to avoid parallel AC cable paths to minimize electrical interference.
Communication is carried out via PLC, which transmits data over the existing DC wiring. The installer must ensure that all optimizers are within communication range and properly addressed.
