K2 Solar Wood Screw 8x240 is a wood screw with washer head and double thread made of coated stainless steel A2, with 8 mm diameter and 240 mm overall length. With the K2 Solar Wood Screw 8x240 you can fasten solar systems or roof hooks on roofs with above-rafter insulation. The second thread secures the counter batten, and the loads are transferred via the thread directly into the rafters.

Fast installation without pre-drilling: Thanks to the Topix tip, the screw can be driven in without pre-drilling. The drive is a hexalobular socket TX40.
Compatible with K2 mounting systems: The screw is used for the K2 SingleRail System and the K2 SolidRail System.

Installing the K2 Solar Wood Screw 8x240 with above-rafter insulation

The screw must be screwed at least 40 mm deep into the rafter; 60 mm is recommended. In the counter batten, the minimum screw-in depth for 8 mm diameter is generally 32 mm. The maximum screw-in torque for Ø 8 mm is 12.6 Nm. Permitted materials are softwood solid timber, glued laminated timber, glued solid timber, cross-laminated timber and laminated veneer lumber.

Planning and structural verification

Before installation, check whether the roof can bear the additional load of the photovoltaic system. As a rule, a structural verification is required for this. The screw connection is calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5, taking into account local conditions, the substructure and the geometry of the roof hook.
