Technical Operation & Usage Notes
The inverter requires a smart meter or power flow meter at the grid feed-in point for self-use control. Configuration according to grid requirements and battery type is necessary before commissioning. The inverter supports various standards such as G98, G99, VDE‑4105, or EN 50549 (depending on the market). For reliable long-term operation, the S6‑EA1P4.6K‑L should be installed in well-ventilated, weather-protected, but thermally balanced rooms. When sizing the battery, attention should be paid to current strengths (A) and charge/discharge capacity to fully utilize performance.

Self-consumption of electricity is significantly more profitable than feeding it into the grid. In 2023, a purchased kWh of electricity costs an average of 34.96 cents, while feeding it into the grid only yields 8.6 cents/kWh (up to 10kWp PV capacity). The purchased kWh is therefore more than four times more expensive than the fed-in one. Using the battery storage can save a lot of money.Â
Therefore, the package includes the powerful Pylontech US3000C LiFePO4 Battery Storage. This powerhouse with 3.5 kWh and 48 V is based on lithium iron phosphate battery technology (LiFePo4). This is widely used due to its high usable capacity and numerous advantages, offering solutions for residential, commercial, and grid-connected storage systems.
Modular Design
The US3000C battery is modular, allowing capacity to be easily expanded by connecting multiple battery modules in series (up to 16). Multiple batteries from Pylontech can be connected, allowing the total storage capacity to be increased as needed. Possible additional batteries include the Pylontech US2000C with 2.4 kWh or US5000 with 4.8 kWh. This makes it an extremely flexible and scalable solution for your energy needs.

Calculating the Appropriate Battery Capacity
To find the appropriate battery capacity for you, we calculate the required battery capacity based on household size using an example calculation.
Let's assume that 50% of your electricity consumption occurs outside solar charging times. In the morning, electricity is needed for lights, coffee makers, or kettles. After work, cooking is done, additional lighting is needed, and PCs and TVs are turned on. Modern washing machines or dishwashers can be set to turn on automatically at pre-programmed times.
If 60% of daily electricity consumption occurs outside charging times, the recommended PV storage capacity is accordingly 60% of daily electricity consumption. In calculating PV capacity, we have already listed the average electricity consumption of German households. Accordingly, the following PV storage capacities are recommended:
Single-person household: 60% of 5.5 kWh per day = 3.3 kWh storage requirement
Two-person household: 60% of 8.9 kWh per day = 5.3 kWh storage requirement
Family household: 60% of 13.7 kWh per day = 8.2 kWh storage requirement
For a single-person household, the 3.5 kWh storage is sufficient,
for two people we recommend an expansion by 2.4 kWh to 5.9 kWh
and for a family household we recommend an expansion by 4.8 kWh to 8.3 kWh.
In principle, the more electrical appliances like washing machines or dishwashers you can turn on during the day, the longer the battery storage lasts and the less electricity needs to be purchased.
The battery storage increases the share of self-consumption (degree of autonomy) - below we explain why the additional investment in a larger battery quickly pays off and is therefore almost always worthwhile.
